The National Museum of the Marine Corps is about to start in our SBD-3 (a former lake bird) and we are looking for a good set of drawings and/or photos of the interior. The aircraft has been restored once, but we are not sure that it was done correctly. Any leads are greatly appreciated!

Ben you might try Steve Hinton at Planes of Fame in Chino.  I think Ed Maloney got one of those lake birds and they restored it.  I think Bob Ellis might have one as well.

    Hi Ben,

We can help you with that. I am sure that our Senior Curator has a truck load of material. You'll get er done correctly.

    Ben,

    Good day!

In your behalf, I located a CD a few minutes ago that includes hundreds of Douglas Factory drawings showing various parts of the SBD. In a few minutes we plan to run the program to see what we have (if anything) on the instument panel.

Supplying you with pictures of the cockpit is no problem and we can manage that portion of you request through email.

Please feel free to contact me directly at: gward@airzoo.org

    or by telephone: (269) 350-2843

    Sincerely,

    Greg
